Womb Support Tea Ingredients (100% organic)

For all wombs, pregnant or not!

Red raspberry leaf: Raspberry leaf is an effective astringent (tightens, tones, and strengthens tissues) and has some mild antispasmodic properties (decreases cramps or spasms in the muscles). Red raspberry leaf has a well-deserved reputation as a tonic and nutritive for the organs of the female reproductive system. The tea makes a wonderful tonic for menstruation, strengthening the uterus and preparing it for the building up of the uterine lining and then subsequent excretion. The tea also makes a wonderful pregnancy tonic that prepares your body for childbirth by strengthening the uterine muscle fibers and increasing blood flow to the uterus. Raspberry leaf is also high in vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins A, C, and E, iron, calcium, and potassium.

Nettle: Nettle is an antibiotic (eliminates bacterial infections), astringent (tightens, tones, and strengthens tissues), diuretic (decreases fluid retention), nutritive (rich in vitamins and minerals), and hypoglycemic (balances blood sugar). Nettle is widely used as a nourishing tonic for all women, pregnant or not. Nettle’s diuretic properties may help reduce the body’s fluid build up that results from the changes to intrathoracic pressure during pregnancy. It’s also high in vitamins and minerals, especially iron, calcium, and magnesium, which are all essential for healthy fertility. Because of these nutritive properties, many women also report that it combats fatigue and helps them to feel more energized throughout the day. Nettle leaf can also improve elasticity of the veins to help prevent varicose veins and hemorrhoids.

Spearmint: Spearmint tea is an easy and effective treatment to help achieve better hormonal balance within the female body. Spearmint can lessen the symptoms of hormonal imbalances related to excess androgens (male hormones) while increasing the female hormones for healthy ovulation. Drinking spearmint tea could be an ideal remedy for those who struggle with painful cramps and premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms, due to its antispasmodic properties. It is also beneficial for symptoms related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In general, many plants from the mint family possess these amazing properties, and many women have experienced the soothing effects of spearmint.

Hibiscus Flower: Hibiscus is an anti-inflammatory (decreases inflammation), antioxidant (inhibits oxidation), antimicrobial (decreases microorganisms), diuretic (decreases fluid retention), hypotensive (lowers blood pressure), astringent (tightens, tones, and strengthens tissues) and demulcent (eases mucus membranes). Hibiscus adds a beautiful flavor and color to our tea.

Dandelion Root: Dandelion is an alterative (blood purifier), anti-inflammatory (decreases inflammation), antibiotic (eliminates bacterial infections), antiviral (eliminates viruses), bitter (stimulates the digestive system, increasing salivation, the release of pancreatic hormones and enzymes, gut movement, and repair), cholagogue (increases bile production), diuretic (decreases fluid retention), and prebiotic (feeds the good gut bacteria). During pregnancy, blood volume increases by 50%. Because the liver plays a large part in filtering the blood, pregnancy puts extra strain on the liver. Dandelion helps support a healthy liver so that it may function and filter blood volume more efficiently during pregnancy. Taking dandelion may also help prevent conditions such as preeclampsia and pregnancy-related swelling. Dandelion contains essential vitamins and minerals, including iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, C, D and B. Dandelion root is traditionally used as a gentle digestive bitter to improve the potential discomforts of pregnancy. It is a lovely herb for improving digestion, relieving heartburn, relieving nausea and vomiting, improving appetite, relieving and preventing UTI, purifying the blood, improving blood circulation, relieving constipation, and acting as a mild diuretic to remove excess water from the body.

Ashwagandha root: Ashwagandha is an adaptogen (helps the body deal with/adapt to stresses caused by illness or the environment), alterative (blood purifier), antibacterial (eliminates bacterial infection), anti-inflammatory (decreases inflammation), aphrodisiac (libido support), astringent (tightens, tones, and strengthens tissues), cardioactive (heart support), diuretic (decreases fluid retention), neuroprotective (protects central nervous system), thermogenic (supports natural body heat), and a stimulant (increases alertness). Ashwagandha is an overall body tonic that helps your body adapt to stress, support normal energy levels, and restore hormone balance. Stress can disrupt the delicate balance of hormones in the body, leading to irregular menstrual cycles and other reproductive issues. It is also an effective aphrodisiac and improves both male and female libido and sexual function. Ashwagandha is also an antioxidant. Oxidative stress damages cells and tissue all over the body, including the reproductive system, thereby creating hormone imbalance. (Please note: Ashwagandha is not deemed safe by the FDA for pregnant women. However, it has been used for centuries in pregnancies and has been found beneficial by many. Please speak with your health professional before incorporating any herbs into your diet, especially while pregnant or breastfeeding.)

Licorice: Licorice is an alterative (blood purifier), antiviral (eliminates viruses), anti-inflammatory (decreases inflammation), aperient (mild laxative), demulcent (eases mucus membranes), immune-stimulator, nutritive (high in vitamins and minerals), and a restorative (supports healing activity). Licorice has the unique property of potentiating the actions of other herbs and is a wonderful addition to formulas. Licorice can also balance estrogen levels and is helpful for menstrual cramps. The American licorice (G. lepidota) lacks the pleasant licorice flavor of the Chinese (G. glabra), so we use Chinese licorice in our tea at Grandad Farms.

Rose hips: Rose hips are berry-like fruits with a fruity, tangy taste that is more similar to hibiscus flowers than roses. Rose hips are a delicate yet powerful nutritive, uterine tonic that are one of the richest plant sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C is needed by mom for immune system support, preventing cell damage, and increasing iron absorption. Vitamin C is needed by babies for healthy immune system support, cell division for proper growth, and building tendons, bones, teeth, skin, blood vessels, and cartilage. Rose hips can also help relax the nervous system, calm anxiety and reduce symptoms of depression. It also helps ease pain from menstrual cramps by reducing inflammation.
